Governor General visiting Tumbler Ridge as community heals from mass shooting

Mary Simon, Canada’s Governor General, arrived in Tumbler Ridge on Monday, more than 10 weeks after a mass shooting killed nine people in the small town in northeastern B.C.

She is scheduled to meet with officials, school staff, students, and first responders.

Most of Simon’s time will be spent in private meetings that are closed to the public and media, to be respectful to everyone involved.

Simon will also attend a town hall before spending some time at the memorial site.

The shooting also left 27 people injured.
