Surrey police seeking information on activities of deported extortion suspect

Surrey police have released a photo of a man suspected of being involved in the region’s ongoing extortion crisis.

Twenty-year-old Prabhjot Singh was arrested in early 2026 and later deported after an investigation by the Canada Border Services Agency.

Now, the SPS is asking for information on the foreign national’s associates and activities while he was in the country.

Police have released a photo of Singh, hoping it “prompts additional witnesses, victims, or associates to come forward.”

Those with information to share are asked to call the SPS’s non-emergency number at 604-599-0502, the Surrey Extortion Tip Line at 236-485-5149, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca if they wish to remain anonymous.

In September 2025, Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke announced the city’s extortion tip line and set aside a $250,000 reward fund for information leading to convictions.

The SPS says suspect photos will be released on a case-by-case basis, if disclosure is necessary to further an investigation into a current crime.

As of last week, the SPS says 91 extortion crimes have been reported in 2026, affecting 49 victims, including 16 shots fired, and two arsons.
