PWHL suspends Curl-Salemme after pair of incidents in Minnesota victory over Victoire

Minnesota Frost forward Britta Curl-Salemme has been suspended one game and fined $250 by the Professional Women’s Hockey League.

The discipline follows two incidents in Game 1 of the Walter Cup playoffs against the Montréal Victoire on Saturday, which the Frost won 5-4 in overtime.

The league said Monday the fine stems from a second-period altercation with Victoire forward Abby Roque, where Curl-Salemme pulled her opponent’s facial protector, sending her to the ice.

Her suspension relates to a separate play later in the period, when she was assessed a major and game misconduct for an illegal check to the head of Montreal forward Kaitlin Willoughby.

The league’s player safety committee ruled Curl-Salemme made no attempt to play the puck and delivered avoidable head contact.

It’s her first suspension of the 2025-26 season, though she was fined earlier this year and served three one-game suspensions last season.
