A body was found washed up on the bank of Rivière des Prairies, behind a house, in Montreal’s Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough Thursday.
Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at around 10:35 a.m. reporting the presence of a body at the water’s edge near Gouin West and Saint-Jean Boulevards.
“Upon arrival, police officers located a non-responsive body on the river bank,” SPVM spokesperson Ann-Sophie Simard said.
The investigation will be referred to the Quebec Coroner’s office to determine the cause of death and the identity of the individual.
In March, two teens fell through the ice into the river near Jacques-Bizard Boulevard in L’Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève, west of where the body was found Thursday. While one of the teens was rescued, a search for an 18-year-old man was suspended after three days.
