The BC Prosecution Service has charged a man with murder after a stabbing in the Downtown Eastside Wednesday.
The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) said officers were called to the area of East Hastings and Columbia streets shortly after 2:30 a.m., where first responders found a man suffering from stab wounds.
Police say the victim, 49-year-old James Andrew Slater, was taken to hospital, where he later died.
On Wednesday, the VPD said a man and a woman had been arrested.
In an update Thursday, police said the man, a 27-year-old, had since been charged with one count of second-degree murder, and the woman was released and no longer considered a suspect.
