The Montreal Canadiens have all the momentum in their second-round series against the Buffalo Sabres.
After giving up a goal in the opening minute, the Canadiens quickly flipped the script en route to a 6-2 win over the visiting Sabres on Sunday in Game 3.
The Canadiens lead the series 2-1 after winning two in a row. Game 4 is back in Montreal on Tuesday.
Alex Newhook, with two, Cole Caufield, Zachary Bolduc, Juraj Slafkovsky and Kirby Dach scored for the Canadiens, while Tage Thompson and Rasmus Dahlin replied for the Sabres.
It was a nasty game at times, with both teams not hesitating to go into the opposing crease.
Buffalo’s Beck Malenstyn bowled over Canadiens goalie Jakub Dobes in the second period, leading to a goal by Slafkovsky, Montreal’s second power-play marker of the game.
Dobes was excellent in the third period when the Sabres had the majority of chances after falling behind 4-2. Dach put the Canadiens up by three about halfway through the third.
