Minor fire in downtown Montreal high-rise forces evacuation

A fire in a residential high-rise building in downtown Montreal forces evacuation Monday afternoon.

About 90 firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department are responded to a one-alarm fire on the 24th floor of the residential building located on Jeanne-Mance Street between René-Lévésque Boulevard West and Sainte-Catherine Street West.

Crews were able to put out the blaze quickly. It was reportedly limited to one condo unit.

Residents of the 61-floor building were evacuated. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
