Suspected arson fire destroys 3 trucks, damages 10 vehicles in Saint-Laurent

A suspicious overnight fire in Montreal’s Saint-Laurent borough destroyed three trucks and damaged 10 other vehicles.

Montreal police say officers were called around 1:30 a.m. Thursday to an outdoor parking lot on Saint-François Road near Donahue Street after reports of trucks on fire.

When officers arrived, firefighters with the Montreal fire department were already battling the blaze, which had engulfed three heavy trucks.

Police say the fire also spread damage to 10 nearby vehicles. No injuries were reported.

According to SPVM spokesperson Manuel Couture, incendiary materials were found at the scene, leading investigators to believe the fire was deliberately set.

No arrests have been made so far.

A security perimeter was established in the area while investigators examined the scene.

The case has now been transferred to the SPVM’s arson squad, which will investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire.
