Driver fatally strikes pedestrian, drives away, Langley RCMP says

The Langley RCMP says it is investigating after a vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian on Fraser Highway and then drove away.

Mounties say they were called to the area of the highway between 232nd and 240th streets shortly after 4:30 a.m. Saturday.

“Officers arrived in the area and located a pedestrian who had suffered injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle,” police said.

“Both the driver and the vehicle involved did not remain at the scene.”

First responders began life-saving efforts, but the pedestrian died at the scene.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been called in to help the RCMP with the investigation.

“Road closures are in effect in the immediate area and are expected to remain in place for several hours while investigators continue their work,” police said.

Anyone who witnesses the crash or was in the area at the time is asked to call the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and refer to file number 2026-14967.
