Extortion-related shots fired at Surrey home

Police in Surrey are investigating after a home was targeted by gunfire Wednesday morning.

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says it was called to 57 Avenue near 148 Street around 4:40 a.m.

Responding officers confirmed damage to the residence and evidence of shots fired.

“The residence was occupied at the time of the shooting, and fortunately, no one was injured,” said an SPS statement.

Police add that the incident is suspected to be related to extortion, and the Extortion Response Team is investigating.

As of Wednesday, the SPS said 108 extortion crimes had been reported in Surrey in 2026, affecting 59 victims, including 17 shots fired and two arsons.
