Laval police seek additional victims following sexual assault arrest

Police in Laval are asking potential victims to come forward after the arrest of a 38-year-old man in connection with an alleged sexual assault case that investigators believe may involve additional victims.

Laval police said Thursday that officers recently arrested Nicu Eduard Cristea following an investigation by the force’s Crimes Against the Person unit.

According to police, the alleged victim met the suspect on the evening of April 25, while out at an establishment in Laval. Investigators allege the suspect provided the victim with alcohol and an intoxicating substance before driving the victim to his residence, where the sexual assault allegedly occurred.

Cristea is facing charges including administering a noxious substance, forcible confinement, and sexual assault. Police said he remains in custody following his court appearance and is scheduled to return before the Court of Quebec on Friday.

Investigators say they have reason to believe there may be other victims and are urging anyone who may have had contact with the suspect, or who has information related to the case, to contact authorities.

Anyone with information can reach Laval police confidentially through the Info Line at 450-662-4636 or by calling 911 and referencing file number LVL-250425-072.
