A young man riding a motocross bike died Thursday afternoon after hitting a tree in Oka, in Quebec’s Laurentians region.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 4 p.m. in a wooded area near Rang de l’Annonciation.
The man was travelling through a curve on an unpaved road when he reportedly collided with the tree, said Laurie Avoine, a spokesperson with the Sûreté du Québec.
He was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A police officer trained in collision investigations is expected to visit the scene to determine the causes and circumstances surrounding the incident.
