A member of the Langley RCMP has been charged in connection with a crash that took place in 2025, the BC Prosecution Service announced this week.
Cst. Denis Miano Maina has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm in connection with an incident in Langley that took place on June 1, 2025.
In a news release in April this year, the Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) said it was looking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
According to the IIO, a Langley RCMP officer was driving in a marked police vehicle on Fraser Highway shortly before 2:30 a.m. when it was involved in a collision with a white 2023 Hyundai Elantra at the intersection of Fraser Highway and 260 Street.
Three people — the officer and the passenger and driver of the Hyundai Elantra — were assessed by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital for further assessment.
After a review of the medical evidence, the incident was reported to the IIO in March of this year.
The IIO is the civilian oversight agency that is called in after any police-related incidents that result in death or serious injury, whether or not there are any allegations of wrongdoing.
The officer is scheduled to appear in court on June 22.
