Residents across the Montreal region can expect a taste of summer over the next few days as temperatures climb well above seasonal norms before a rainy weekend cools things down.
Environment And Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is forecasting mainly sunny skies Thursday with a high of 29 Celusis and a humidex of 30. Gusty southwest winds reaching up to 40 km/h are expected through the day, while the UV index will reach 8, considered very high.
Warm conditions are expected to continue Friday, with temperatures again reaching 28 C under a mix of sun and cloud.
The stretch of dry, warm weather will come to an end Saturday as rain moves into the region. Daytime temperatures are expected to drop to 21 C, with showers continuing into the evening.
Conditions improve Sunday, with a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 23 C, before sunshine returns to start the new workweek.
Forecasters are calling for temperatures to climb steadily early next week, reaching 26 C on Monday before soaring to 33 C on Tuesday under sunny skies. If the forecast holds, Tuesday could be one of the hottest days of the year so far.
Clouds and a 60 per cent chance of showers are expected Wednesday, though temperatures are forecast to remain near 30 C.
The upcoming stretch of weather serves as a reminder that summer is approaching, with residents encouraged to stay hydrated and limit prolonged exposure to the sun during periods of intense heat and high UV levels.
