Heads up if your overnight commute involves the Massey Tunnel:
The tunnel will be closed in both directions June 5 to 7, overnight from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
Mainroad crews will be performing line safety equipment testing and maintenance in both directions.
Please plan for an alternate route during those overnight hours. The Alex Fraser Bridge is your preferred detour.
Coming from Surrey or Delta, you can take the Highway 91 northbound offramp from Highway 99. You can also turn off at Ladner Trunk Road, Highway 17, or Highway 17A and use those to connect to the bridge.
From Richmond, you need to use the Highway 91 offramp just south of the Oak Street Bridge. Otherwise, you may be forced off Highway 99 closer to Steveston Highway, which becomes a very lengthy detour.
The George Massey Tunnel was opened in 1959, connecting the City of Richmond to the City of Delta.
