The RCMP is asking the public for help finding a suspect who has now been charged with assaulting a taxi driver in Maple Ridge last year.
Mounties say 57-year-old Link Gaetz of Mission is facing charges of assault and mischief under $5,000 in connection with the incident.

Shortly before 3 p.m. on Sept. 17, 2025, police were called to the intersection of Sheldrake Court and Fern Crescent after receiving reports of the assault.
When they arrived, they were told the driver had picked up the suspect at an establishment on 232 Street near 129 Avenue.
“The driver was then directed to the current location before the suspect abruptly told the driver to stop and immediately began assaulting him,” police said in November 2025.
“The victim received injuries to his face due to multiple punches being thrown at him. In the process, the suspect also attempted to break the CCTV camera in the taxi and proceeded to break the vehicle’s windshield before fleeing the area.”
Gaetz, who now has an outstanding arrest warrant, is described as being 6’4″ and 252 lbs with blond hair and blue eyes.
