The Burnaby RCMP says it has arrested a 32-year-old man shortly after an alleged sex assault last week.
Just after 8 a.m. on Friday, May 29, Mounties received a report of a sexual assault on Lane Street near Elgin Avenue, a block away from Kingsway.
Police say the victim reported that a man had approached her from behind and grabbed her before running away.
The suspect was tracked down, with the help of Metrotown Security, within an hour of the original call coming in, the RCMP says.
“This type of crime can be traumatizing,” said Insp. Sushile Sharma.
“The victim in this case gave police every advantage in locating the suspect with her quick response and call to 911.”
The investigation is ongoing, the RCMP says.
