Summer-like warmth arrives ahead of wet weekend in Montreal

Montrealers can expect a taste of summer heading into the weekend, with temperatures climbing near 30 C before a stretch of unsettled weather brings rain and possible thunderstorms.

Friday will feature a mix of sun and cloud, with southwest winds developing in the afternoon at 20 km/h. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 29 Celsius, feeling closer to 31 with the humidex. The UV index will be 8, considered very high, prompting officials to recommend sun protection during peak daylight hours.

Clouds will increase Friday night, with temperatures remaining warm and humid as the overnight low dips only to 21 C.

The weather will take a turn on Saturday as a system moves into the region. Showers are expected to begin in the morning, with a risk of thunderstorms developing during the afternoon. Southwest winds will strengthen to 20 km/h, gusting up to 40 km/h. The daytime high will reach 24 C, with humid conditions making it feel closer to 29 C.

Rain is expected to continue Saturday night before becoming more widespread on Sunday. Sunday’s forecast calls for periods of rain and a high of 22 C, bringing a brief break from the recent heat.

Conditions improve significantly to start the new week. Sunshine returns Monday with a high of 26 C, followed by even warmer temperatures on Tuesday as the mercury climbs to 30 C under sunny skies.

The summer-like warmth is expected to continue through midweek, with temperatures reaching 31 C on Wednesday despite a 60 per cent chance of showers. Thursday is forecast to be even hotter, with a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 32 C.

Forecasters are advising residents to stay hydrated and monitor local weather updates, particularly on Saturday when thunderstorms may develop.
