Poll: CAQ gaining momentum, PLQ dropping, PQ staying steady

A new poll shows the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) gaining momentum among Quebec voters while the Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ) is on the decline and the  Parti Québécois (PQ) is holding its lead.

The Synopsis survey commissioned by La Presse shows the PLQ has dropped five points in a month to 25 per cent.

The CAQ has climbed three points to 21 per cent and shows significant gains among older Quebecers.

The PQ is holding its lead, gained one point to 31 per cent.

PQ leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon is the top choice for Premier among respondents sitting at 24 per cent. CAQ leader Christine Fréchette follows at 21 per cent. PLQ leader Charles Milliard sits at 15 per cent.

Despite the PQ’s lead, 30 per cent of respondents said they would vote yes in a referendum.

Among Francophone voters, the PQ remains on top with 37 per cent, the CAQ follows at 21 per cent and the PLQ sits at 16 per cent.

The survey was conducted from June 5 to 8. The 1,000 respondents were recruited through online panels. The study was conducted online.
