A tragic incident took place late Monday afternoon when a young driver met with a fatal accident involving a heavy truck in Sainte-Martine, Montérégie.
The collision occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on Route 138, also known as Saint-Jean-Baptiste Boulevard, as confirmed by Marc Tessier, a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
Preliminary information suggests that the vehicle veered off its lane while navigating a curve, leading to the collision with the heavy truck heading in the opposite direction.
Subsequently, the heavy truck collided with a nearby residence.
Sadly, the young man driving the vehicle lost his life at the scene, whereas the other driver and the lone occupant of the residence emerged unharmed.
In response to the incident, Route 138 was temporarily shut down in both directions to facilitate the police investigation into the causes and circumstances surrounding the accident.
