Person airlifted to hospital after large house fire in Mission

One person was seriously injured in a large house fire on Townshipline Avenue in Mission Monday morning, BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) says.

Emergency crews were called to the home, which is located between Clay Street and Keystone Avenue, shortly after 8 a.m.

“Two ambulances with primary care paramedics, an ambulance with advanced care paramedics, an air ambulance with critical care paramedics, and a paramedic supervisor responded,” said BCEHS paramedic public information officer.

“Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient who was transported by air ambulance to hospital in serious condition.”

Mounties say the home was fully engulfed in flames.

Townshipline Avenue is closed and gas and electricity were shut off in the area.

Photos taken at the scene show smoke billowing from the home.

CityNews has reached out to Mission Fire Rescue Service and BC Emergency Health Services for more information.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
