Two kilograms of fentanyl, crack cocaine, 500 grams of crystal methamphetamine, half a pound of psilocybin, and 50 pounds of cannabis, as well as illegally owned firearms and cash, have been seized by police.
The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) says on Tuesday that the bust of “significant quantities of illicit drugs” is the result of four search warrants, executed on June 2 in Coquitlam and Delta.
An investigation into an “organized crime group operating throughout the Lower Mainland” was launched in October last year, identifying “multiple locations believed to be used in support of the group’s drug trafficking activities.”
Police add that they, assisted by the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team (ERT), also arrested multiple individuals when executing the search warrants.
However, the suspects have since been released pending further investigation, with charges being “anticipated.”
Additionally, police seized two Glock 9 mm handguns, approximately $21,000 in cash, multiple cellular phones, and 20 kilograms of caffeine, commonly used as a cutting or buffing agent.
“This investigation targeted a longstanding drug trafficking enterprise operated by an organized crime group that is alleged to have generated significant illicit profits over many years,” said S/Sgt. Ryan Johnston, acting CFSEU-BC operations officer.
He adds that the Coquitlam RCMP, Chilliwack RCMP, Delta Bylaw Services, and Integrated Forensic Identification Services also assisted in the investigation.
