Quebec-born RCMP officer accused of threatening Trump online

An RCMP officer from St-Jean-sur-Richelieu is facing charges in connection with a social media post.

The RCMP Federal Policing Eastern Region alleges the 34-year-old posted a video on his Snapchat in which he threatened U.S. President Donald Trump.

Authorities say the alleged video was taken while the officer was deployed on G7 security operations last summer. Trump attended the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alta., which took place from June 15-17, 2025.

Police say another RCMP officer reported the video, and the accused was removed from his duties on the same day the video was posted.

Evenson Dumerlus was charged with uttering threats. He is scheduled to appear in court July 30. The allegation against him has not been tested in court.
