One person airlifted to hospital after crash with deer in Chilliwack

One person has been airlifted in critical condition to the hospital after a car struck a deer on Highway 1 in Chilliwack early Saturday morning.

The BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) says that the incident occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. at the Yale Street overpass.

Additionally, four ambulances responded to the crash, but no other person was transported to the hospital.

No information has been released on how many occupants were inside the car.

The Chilliwack RCMP says that the deer is believed to have died at the scene.

Highway 1 was closed in both directions for a few hours but has since reopened.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has now launched an investigation into the incident.
