Police in Fort St. John seize lot of 3D printed firearms

The Fort St. John’s RCMP Street Enforcement Team (SET) found a cache of 3D printed firearms while executing a search warrant related to drug trafficking on June 18.

The residence was on 105th Avenue.

SET members found about 20 privately manufactured firearms (PMF’s) in the home.

These firearms can look like “harmless toys.”

The RCMP says that it has seen an increase in the seizure of PMF’s since the fall of 2025.

“Since the rise of PMF’s last year was noted by the RCMP, SET has been investigating the matter and were able to locate the source of the guns as part of their broader push to stomp out the illicit sale of drugs and influence of organized crime,” said Sgt. Ian Rissanen, commander of the Fort St John RCMP Plainclothes Unit. “Thanks in part to vigilant community members. It’s hard to quantify the impact this warrant execution will have on public safety within our community; but it’s safe to say the impact will be profound”.

A 37-year-old man was arrested and released while the RCMP continues its investigation.

The Fort St. John RCMP anticipates that a number of serious charges will be recommended.
