Mount Royal Park Celebrates 150th Anniversary with Free Outdoor Concert
On Wednesday, the Orchestre Métropolitain will grace the base of Mount Royal with enchanting melodies, uniting Montrealers for their yearly open-air concert. This special event is part of the commemorations honoring the 150th year of Mount Royal Park.
The festivities will kick off with the inaugural Symphonic Picnic at 5 p.m., offering a delightful lineup of musical acts, interactive community events, and a fascinating insight into the park’s rich history. Later in the evening, the main concert will take center stage.
At 7:30 p.m., all eyes and ears will be captivated by the Orchestre Métropolitain’s performance, under the baton of conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin and emceed by Fabiola Nyrva Aladin.
Audiences can expect a captivating repertoire including Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World,” the premiere of Montréal Cirque by Ana Sokolović, and Rêveries by Quebec composer Guillaume Couture.
The grand finale of the evening will feature a special collaboration between Elisapie and Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal, promising a memorable conclusion to this musical celebration.
