Two motorcyclists lost their lives Saturday in a collision in Saint-André-de-Restigouche, in the Gaspé Peninsula.
The accident occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. when the motorcycle collided with a vehicle on Route 132, according to information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The two people on board the motorcycle, a man in his forties and a woman in her fifties, were transported to a hospital where they were unfortunately pronounced dead, said Sergeant Frédéric Deshaies, spokesman for the SQ.
The two victims were from Rimouski, he said.
Since the investigation is in its early stages, it is impossible to “speculate on the factors” that contributed to the accident, said Sergeant Deshaies.
Cars can circulate alternately in the area while the SQ analyzes the scene.
