Montreal weather: Sunshine and summer heat settle in for the weekend

Montrealers woke up to a warm Saturday with a mix of sunshine and cloud, setting the stage for a classic stretch of summer weather as temperatures climb through the long-range forecast.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, skies will feature a mix of sun and cloud today with northwest winds increasing to 20 km/h this morning.

The daytime high will reach 28 Celsius, with the humidex making it feel like 31 C. The UV index is 9, or very high.

Tonight will be clear as northwest winds become light this evening. The overnight low will be 17 C.

Sunday brings wall-to-wall sunshine with a high of 29 C. The humidex will make it feel like 32 C during the afternoon, while the UV index remains very high at 8.

Cloudy periods are expected Sunday night with a low of 19 C.

The warm pattern continues into the workweek. Monday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 29 C before clearing overnight with a low of 20 C.

Tuesday will be sunny with a high of 29 C, followed by a clear night and a low of 19 C.

Wednesday looks to be the hottest day of the stretch, with sunny skies and a high of 31 C. Cloudy periods move in overnight with a low of 20 C.

By Thursday, the forecast turns more unsettled. Cloudy skies with a 60 per cent chance of showers are expected, along with a high of 27 C.

The chance of showers continues Thursday night with a low of 19 C.

Friday is also expected to be cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a high of 26 C.
