“Parking Pandemonium: Scarborough Residents Trapped in Ticketing Nightmare With No Place to Park”

Some residents living on National Street in Scarborough’s Cliffcrest area are facing a frustrating yellow ticket dilemma. Despite no signage prohibiting parking near their homes and no permit parking options, residents like Felicia are continuously receiving parking tickets. Felicia, who has received eight tickets in nine weeks, expressed her exasperation, highlighting the lack of clarity in parking regulations on their residential dead-end street.

Even adhering to the city-wide three-hour parking limit doesn’t seem to protect residents like Felicia from getting ticketed. The situation has forced her to resort to parking at the nearby GO station to avoid further fines. Additionally, Sokol Dodaj shared his experience of accumulating nearly $2,000 in tickets in just two months, emphasizing the lack of alternative parking options for residents on the street.

Despite efforts by residents to address the issue by submitting a petition to local councillor Parthi Kandavel, seeking changes to parking rules to alleviate the ticketing problem, no concrete solutions have been put in place yet. Felicia proposed a compromise where residents could register their license plates with the parking authority to distinguish between residents and non-residents, potentially reducing unwarranted fines.
