Firefighters Gain Upper Hand: Cooler Temperatures and Gentler Winds Aid Battle Against B.C. Wildfires

Two major wildfires in British Columbia’s Fraser Canyon are still posing threats to nearby communities despite a slight decrease in wind intensity.

According to officials from the BC Wildfire Service, the Brunswick Creek and Ainslie Creek wildfires are currently categorized as out of control. Fortunately, the situation has seen some improvement due to cooler temperatures and reduced wind speeds, aiding firefighting efforts to protect local homes and infrastructure.

Weather forecasts indicate that these more favorable conditions are expected to persist for the next 48 hours. However, concerns arise as strong winds and high temperatures are predicted to resume on Monday and Tuesday.

A total of 16 fire departments in the area are actively working to contain the blazes, which are spreading on both sides of the Fraser River spanning between Boston Bar, North Bend, and Boothroyd.
