Montreal Braces for Fierce Thunderstorms and Possible Tornado Alert

Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a warning for severe thunderstorms in the Greater Montreal area, prompting concerns of potential hazards on Tuesday.

Residents in the region are alerted to the possibility of intense thunderstorms that may bring strong gusts, large hail, and heavy rainfall throughout the afternoon and evening. There is even a looming threat of a tornado forming.

Experts advise against being out on bodies of water during these storms due to safety risks, emphasizing the importance of seeking shelter indoors when thunder and lightning strike, which can be life-threatening.

The weather forecast for Tuesday indicates a day of varying conditions, starting with a mix of sun and clouds and gusty winds of up to 50 km/h in the morning. By late afternoon, there is a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures expected to reach a high of 33 Celsius, accompanied by a humidex of 42. Additionally, UV levels are anticipated to be very high, with a nighttime low of 20 C.

As the evening progresses, a severe thunderstorm is probable, although it is predicted to taper off around midnight with lingering showers. Wednesday is forecasted to bring clear skies, a high of 29 C with a humidex of 33, and a nighttime low of 19 C.

Thursday will see a return of wet weather with a mix of sun and clouds and a 60% chance of showers, reaching a high of 26 C. The cloud cover is expected to dissipate in the evening, leading to a nighttime low of 16 C.

Finally, Friday is anticipated to be sunny with a high of 26 C and a low of 19 C, providing a reprieve from the turbulent weather earlier in the week.
