A tragic incident involving an electric scooter crash in Vancouver has resulted in the death of a 30-year-old woman. The Vancouver Police Department reported that the woman was hit by a vehicle near Commercial and Venables streets on July 3 and passed away from her injuries in the hospital over the weekend.
According to the VPD, the collision occurred when the scooter operator was traveling westbound on Venables Street and collided with the side of a vehicle. The impact caused the woman to hit her head on the ground, prompting the vehicle driver to stop immediately.
Despite being conscious when transported to the hospital, the woman could not survive her injuries. This unfortunate event follows another e-scooter accident in Coal Harbour, where a 54-year-old woman ended up hospitalized with a head injury and broken collarbone over the weekend.
Investigators highlighted that neither victim was wearing a helmet, emphasizing that this is a violation of the law and urging riders to prioritize safety measures.
