A 65-year-old cyclist has died from injuries he sustained after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Montreal last week, marking the city’s 10th fatal traffic collision of the year.
The man was one of two cyclists hit shortly after 5 p.m. on July 16 at the intersection of Sainte-Catherine Street East and Frontenac Street, according to the Montreal Police Service (SPVM). He died Thursday.

The second cyclist, a 61-year-old man, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Investigators say a vehicle struck both cyclists at the intersection. The 41-year-old driver was not injured and was arrested following the crash before being interviewed by investigators.
The SPVM’s Collision Investigation Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
