The defence attorney representing two American men convicted of the murder of Quebec filmmaker Daniel Langlois and his partner in Dominica has announced plans to appeal the verdict. Ravi Rajcoomar, who leads the legal team for Jonathan Lehrer and Robert Thomas Snyder Jr., stated that they will be pursuing multiple grounds for the appeal process. Lehrer and Snyder were recently found guilty of the 2023 murder of Langlois and his partner, Dominique Marchand. Despite the conviction, the two men are yet to receive their sentencing.
The victims’ bodies were tragically discovered in a burnt-out vehicle near the luxurious resort they operated in the Caribbean country. Court records have revealed a longstanding dispute between Lehrer and Langlois, which originated from a conflict over a public road crossing Lehrer’s property and providing access to the couple’s high-end ecotourism establishment in Quebec.
Initially, one of the accused was identified as Snider, though a review of court documents by The Canadian Press confirmed the correct spelling as Snyder.
