Teen Suspect in Custody After Shocking Oshawa Shooting Incident

A teenager was recently apprehended in connection to a shooting incident that took place in Oshawa last month.

According to Durham police, the incident occurred on June 14 at approximately 3 p.m. in the vicinity of Ritson Road North and Pentland Street.

Following the shooting, a 20-year-old man was discovered at the scene with a gunshot wound. He was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment for serious yet non-life-threatening injuries. The man’s condition is reported to be stable at present.

On July 30, law enforcement officers located and arrested the suspect in Bowmanville.

The 17-year-old resident of Oshawa is now facing several charges, including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and multiple firearm-related offenses. Notably, at the time of the incident, the suspect was under weapons prohibition conditions and is also charged with failing to comply with an undertaking.

Due to his age, the teenager is protected from identification under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Authorities have confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
