Repentigny in Quebec was hit by severe weather on Sunday afternoon, resulting in flooded streets, damaged roofs, and uprooted trees. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, the cause may have been a low-intensity tornado that swept through the area around 2 p.m. Pictures of the aftermath quickly spread on social media, showcasing the extent of the damage.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported by authorities following the weather event. The Northern Tornadoes Project will be examining the incident to determine if indeed it was a tornado that caused the destruction.
This potential tornado incident follows closely on the heels of another weather anomaly. Just last week, a waterspout was suspected in Sainte-Clotilde, Que., located in the Montérégie region. The Northern Tornadoes Project will also be investigating this event to confirm its nature.
