A fire broke out in an apartment building located in Toronto’s St. James Town neighborhood in the early hours of Tuesday, sending two children and one adult to the hospital.
Authorities from Toronto Fire responded to the emergency call at 3:05 a.m. regarding a fire inside a high-rise building near Ontario Street and St. James Avenue.
The fire originated in a single apartment on the ninth floor, but smoke quickly spread to the hallway, prompting the evacuation of several units as a safety measure.
Paramedics attended to multiple individuals on the scene, ultimately transferring two children and one adult to the hospital for treatment of moderate injuries that were not life-threatening. Fortunately, there were no reports of any severe injuries beyond this.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
