Authorities in Burnaby are currently looking into a reported incident of sexual assault that occurred near Ron McLean Park along the BC Parkway earlier this week.
The incident took place on the evening of August 4 between 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. as a woman was walking in the eastbound direction on the pathway near the intersection of Rumble Street and Hedley Avenue.
A man unknown to the victim came up from behind, passed her, and allegedly struck her on the buttocks before departing the area on foot, as per the police report.
The suspect is described as being around 5 feet 5 inches tall with a medium build. During the time of the incident, he was said to be wearing a white T-shirt and loose black shorts.
RCMP officials are actively gathering more evidence and attempting to identify the individual suspected to be involved.
