Toronto Hate Crime Probe Intensifies: Two Additional Suspects Charged

Toronto police have announced additional charges in connection with a demonstration targeting the Jewish community that took place earlier this year. The incident occurred in the Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue West area on March 15, where individuals were accused of obtaining anti-semitic signs from a storage locker before displaying them at the demonstration alongside derogatory slurs directed at supporters of Israel.

In a recent update, it was revealed that Daniela Bonamico and Shahram Nayeb-Yazdi have been arrested and charged with wilful promotion of hatred and public incitement of hatred in relation to the same investigation. They are set to appear in a Toronto bail court for further proceedings.

Police have emphasized their commitment to holding accountable those who engage in acts of hate, following previous arrests made in April and June. The accused individuals, including the new charges, are yet to face trial.
