Montreal’s Vibrant Chinatown Celebrates Heritage and Inclusivity

Eric Leong, the founder of Paifang, a pioneering queer Asian initiative in Chinatown, emphasized the importance of diversity and inclusion in revitalizing the area. By introducing drag performances and queer programming, Leong has created a sanctuary for LGBTQ+ individuals within the community.
As the day’s celebrations continued at various locations in Chinatown, a sense of unity and diversity permeated the air. Leslie Cheung, a community member, highlighted the multicultural fabric of the neighborhood, showcasing a blend of Korean, Chinese, Mexican, and Indigenous influences.
