Three individuals tragically lost their lives, and multiple others are battling critical injuries after a series of separate accidents that took place on Quebec roads on Saturday night, as confirmed by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
In Franquelin on the North Shore, a fatal road accident claimed the life of one person and left three others in grave condition. The incident occurred on Route 138 at kilometre 804 around 3:20 a.m. when the driver of a vehicle lost control for reasons yet to be determined, according to Valérie Beauchamp, spokesperson for the SQ.
Following the crash, all four occupants were rushed to the hospital, where one individual was sadly pronounced dead. The remaining three passengers are still in critical condition, with their lives hanging in the balance, the SQ revealed.
The identities and details of the individuals involved remained undisclosed as of Sunday morning, with an SQ reconstructionist dispatched to the site while two lanes out of three remained closed in the vicinity.
In Saint-Tite-des-Caps, a 37-year-old woman succumbed to injuries, and a man in his thirties was left in critical condition after a separate road accident on Route 138 in the Capitale-Nationale region. The incident occurred around 6 a.m. on Sunday when the driver veered out of the lane and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over for reasons yet to be determined.
Both occupants were rushed to the hospital with severe injuries, where the woman passed away, and concerns lingered for the man’s life. A collision investigation officer was en route to scrutinize the accident scene.
In Saint-Michel-de-Bellechasse in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, a 35-year-old man tragically lost his life in a road accident on Route 132 East near Mistral Road around 00:30 a.m. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, lost control before veering off the road for unknown reasons, leading to the fatal crash.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and a collision investigation officer was dispatched to analyze the incident. The road was cleared for traffic by 4:45 a.m.
