A fire late Saturday night has caused significant damage to a barn on the historic Cornell Campbell House property in Scarborough, which is used by the City of Toronto for storage.
The incident took place at the Cornell Campbell House grounds on Kingston Road, just east of Markham Road, prompting emergency crews to respond just before 11 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the barn fully engulfed in flames, according to a spokesperson for Toronto Fire Services. Toronto Paramedics also arrived at the scene, although no individuals required medical attention.
As of Sunday, officials were still investigating the cause of the fire and the events leading up to it.
The Cornell House, situated near the affected barn, was constructed in 1858. Designated to portray life in the area during the early 1900s, the property is of significant historical value.
