Downtown Montreal is abuzz with colorful celebrations as Pride events captivate the city following a week of festivities. Fierté Montréal’s 20th parade drew a massive crowd, with thousands of spectators gathered to witness the vibrant displays.
Heightened security measures were put in place by event organizers in response to a recent tragic incident during Berlin Pride. Despite the somber reminder, the spirit of unity and acceptance prevailed throughout the parade.
Adding to the dynamic atmosphere, a group of progressive LGBTQ+ individuals known as Wild Pride organized a march shortly after the parade. Advocating for a return to the core values of Pride, the group voiced concerns over issues such as corporate influence, police involvement, and colonial legacies.
