In Montreal, the solar eclipse is scheduled to commence at 12:50 p.m. and will peak at 1:45 p.m., covering around 18 percent of the sun at its maximum phase. The eclipse is expected to conclude at 2:38 p.m.
Protecting your eyes with proper eclipse viewing glasses is crucial during the event, as with any solar phenomenon. While the Montreal Planetarium won’t be hosting a public event like the one for the 2024 total eclipse, the public can access telescopes with specialized filters for safe viewing.
Additionally, residents of Montreal will have the chance to witness a partial lunar eclipse later this month, occurring on the night of August 27-28, with approximately 93 percent of the moon veiled in shadow.
