Groupe Mach is planning a new high-rise of between 25 and 35 storeys in downtown Montreal, overlooking a historic church on Drummond Street.
The proposed tower would be built behind the former Emmanuel Congregational Church at 2085 Drummond St., a heritage building dating back to 1906. The church has been unused for several years.
Preliminary plans show the tower would also have a main entrance on Stanley Street and be connected to the church. The project has been submitted to the Ville-Marie borough for review.
The tower’s future purpose has not yet been determined. Groupe Mach acquired the Alcan Complex last week for $93 million from Lune Rouge, the company owned by Cirque du Soleil co-founder Guy Laliberté.
