The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO) is seeking witnesses to the arrest of a man in North Vancouver on Aug. 10.
According to the police watchdog, North Vancouver RCMP reported that officers responded to Lonsdale Quay at approximately 8 p.m. to assist BC Emergency Health Services with a medical call.
Investigators say the man who was the subject of the medical call climbed onto the roof of a police vehicle after officers arrived at the scene.
RCMP officers subsequently took the man into custody, and he was transported to hospital for assessment and treatment.

The IIO said the incident was not initially reported because police believed the man had sustained only minor injuries. However, the agency later received information indicating the injuries may have been more serious.
As a result, the IIO has opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
The civilian police oversight agency is asking anyone who witnessed the incident or recorded video of the arrest to come forward, noting that there were numerous people in the area at the time.
Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with the occupants of a grey Tesla Model Y that was near the scene during the incident.
Anyone with information, video footage or other evidence related to the arrest is asked to contact the IIO.
