The BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) is asking the driver of a tractor-trailer who may have witnessed a single-vehicle crash on the Coquihalla on July 30 to come forward.
Police initially turned to the public on Aug. 7 asking for more information about the incident. They renewed their call for the witness Monday morning.
Officers say they were called to the crash on the highway near Exit 286 just south of Merritt around 2:15 p.m.
When they arrived, they found a white GMC Sierra pickup truck had driven off the side of the road and flipped over on its side, BCHP says.
“Witnesses told police that a man driving a tractor-trailer had initially stopped and said he had dash-camera footage of the collision,” said Sgt. Michael McLaughlin.
“However, the tractor-trailer driver left the scene before speaking with police. His view of the crash, along with his dash-camera video, are important evidence.”
The passenger of the pickup truck was seriously injured, police say.
The BCHP says the tractor-trailer was hauling a dark-coloured trailer that may have been a marine container.
Anyone who knows who was driving the tractor-trailer is asked to call the BCHP-Merritt at 250-378-4262 and refer to file (2100) 2026-2201.
