On Thursday, Parti Québécois Leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon announced a new candidate to run in the Montreal riding of Groulx, which is currently held by Finance Minister Eric Girard.
The PQ has recruited star prosecutor Marie-Claude Sarrazin.
The lawyer worked on the Gallant Commission – a public inquiry into the SAAQclic fiasco.
“She’s well known because she was a very important lawyer in the Gallant Commission that revealed incompetence and a lack of transparency in the SAAQclic scandal,” said St-Pierre Plamondon.
The PQ leader told reporters his party is preparing a change in approach in how public funds are being managed.
“We’re serious about ending the waste of public funds that occurred under the CAQ and we have the right people to do it and we have a serious plan in that sense.”
In order to run, Sarrazin will most likely have to sell her shares in her law firm.
Her legal partner is also running, but for the Quebec Liberal Party.
