A man from North Vancouver has been arrested on child exploitation charges after an extensive investigation conducted by the Port Moody Police Department.
The police initiated their investigation in the spring of 2025 after receiving reports that a young individual had been allegedly sexually exploited by a man from the Lower Mainland. The Major Crime Section of the department spearheaded the probe.
Following the investigation, Majid Talebi, a 58-year-old individual, was taken into custody and formally charged.
On August 11, the BC Prosecution Service authorized three charges against Talebi, including one charge of inviting sexual contact with a person under 16 years old and two charges of using telecommunications to entice a minor under 16.
Constable Sam Zacharias stated, “Our Major Crime Section conducted a thorough and sensitive investigation, which involved a parallel civil forfeiture process.”
Zacharias further mentioned, “Our detectives put in significant effort over the past year to gather evidence and present this case in court.”
Talebi appeared in Port Coquitlam Provincial Court for his initial hearing on Wednesday.
Due to the victim being a minor, a publication ban has been imposed on the case.
