As Quebec gears up for its provincial election, it’s crucial for voters to mark their calendars with important dates leading up to Oct. 5.
If you’re eligible to vote, make sure to register or update your address between Sept. 14 and Oct. 1, especially if you’ve recently moved or will move before Sept. 21. You can easily do this online or by visiting your returning officer’s office.
For those planning to be out of the province on election day, remember to apply to vote remotely by Sept. 16. To qualify, you must have lived in Quebec for at least a year, intend to return, and have been away for five years or less. Once registered, you’ll receive all the necessary materials to cast your vote by 8 p.m. on Oct. 5.
Thinking of running for the 2026 election? The nomination deadline is at 2 p.m. on Sept. 17. Check out Elections Quebec’s website for the list of approved candidates.
If you’re unable to attend a polling station due to health reasons, you have the option to vote from home. Just submit a request before Sept. 21 through your electoral division’s returning officer. Those with an informal caregiver can also vote from their caregiver’s home by including them in the request.
For early birds eager to vote before the big day, you have two options: visit the returning officer’s office on Sept. 25-26 and Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, or head to advance polling stations on Sept. 27-28.
Elections Quebec is in the process of recruiting and training approximately 60,000 individuals for the election. Interested applicants aged 16 and above can apply online.
